A gentle soothing forest brook bubbles around and over hillside rocks under a hardwood canopy. A minimalist recording, "Meditation Brook" has no birds, animals, wind or insect sounds that would act to engage or occupy the listener's attention or curiosity. Just the constant, unchanging, continuous sound of soothing gentle water.
Although it is designed to be used for meditation, Meditation Brook can be used as a background ambience to provide a similar effect as an indoor fountain.
Several unique features give this recording a special aura. The recording location was unique in that I found a large 2 metre (2 yard) wide rock that was centered in the stream bed where I set up my microphones. A small waterfall was in front (upstream). The brook split and flowed on either side of the rock and rejoined behind. Water was also making noise from underneath the rock. This 360 degree panarama of sound was captured using my special technique. ( Link to surround sound stereo audio recording techniques ) The result is precise stereo imaging using speakers, and many listeners will be able to hear 3-D surround sound using headphones.
The listener is facing upstream and a high hiss can be heard coming from a series of small waterfalls upstream. On both sides and behind, water swishes and gurgles past. Lower pitched plunks and soft percussive water sounds emanate from below. Edited digital field recording. Binaural baffle, omni-directional microphone technique. Length: 62:16 minutes.
